Weekly Work Schedule:

Read the articles and listen to the lectures. Select an article to review. Post your first discussion question or comment. Do NOT post your article review Respond to at least two other discussion threads; watch the videos. – read all the discussion threads, write and revise your review. Submit your review in the BB assignment box; write your reflective journal entry – Due Sunday at 11:59pm.

 

Discussion 1 original post (by Wed. @ 11:59pm) and 2 responses (by Fri. @ 11:59pm)

  • Write about a topic of interest this week or use your article review as the springboard for your original discussion post.
  • Ask questions of the articles

Five 1 page analytical reviews of articles or books from required or optional readings (Due in BB Assignment box on Sunday @ 11:59pm)

  • Consult How to Read a Book for suggestions about how to read books and articles. http://pne.people.si.umich.edu/PDF/howtoread.pdf and Active Reading Strategies http://www.princeton.edu/mcgraw/library/for-students/remember-reading/
  • Use your analytical review as a springboard for your discussion thread.
  • During your readings and the discussions online, think about the weekly thought questions. Draw your examples and justifications from the readings and online discussion. Use in text citations when referencing readings.
  • Use either APA or Chicago/MLA/Turabian for your citations and bibliography. If you use APA, you MUST include page numbers in all reference.
  • Spelling, grammar, and sentence construction count. Proofread your work before submitting it.

5-7 page paper about a library of your choice with annotated bibliography. (topic due July 23 @11:59pm; Post the Library History on the course website Aug 13; comment of fellow students pages; final revision of your Library History Blog Post due Aug 18 @ 11:59pm)

  • Write a biographical sketch of a library of your choice that describes its founding, history, and importance for its town or community. The sketch should be either a blog post or suitable for an “About Us” page for that library. If the library you select has a “History” page, supplement the information through your biographical sketch.
  • Use a minimum of 4 articles or books for your paper.
  • Sources should be cited in either footnotes or in-text references. Include an annotated bibliography at the end of your paper.
  • Use either APA or Chicago/MLA/Turabian for your citations and bibliography. If you use APA, you MUST include page numbers in all reference.
  • Spelling, grammar, and sentence construction count. Proofread your work before submitting it.
  • You may select one of the libraries we cover in this course. Please check with the professor before beginning your research
