"First Steps for Handling & Drying Water Damaged Materials" describes how to deal with wet materials in simple language and diagrams. The instructions and diagrams are printed on uncoated card stock and come in a loose-leaf binder. Simple disaster response procedures are listed in the beginning along with an abbreviated list of supplies, disaster recovery firms and suppliers. A short bibliography is appended.
Cost: $35 US plus $5 s/h in North America. Inquire for postage for air mail or overseas shipments.

Disaster Response and Prevention for Computers and Data provides basic information for responding to a disaster involving water damaged computers, hardware and software. The information is designed to help with disaster prevention for all types of libraries, corporate and information centers, as well as small data centers. Diagrams and easy-to-follow instructions can be used during disaster response training and, of course, recovery operations. Checklists help you design your own disaster response plan.

"Disaster Response and Planning for Libraries".  Written in 1998, this book on disaster response planning and recovery is a practical guide designed as a simple useable action plan for dealing with disasters, large and small, in all size libraries.  Publication includes appendices  includes of checklists & forms for planning and responding to disasters; lists of organizations that provide information and assistance in preservation and disaster response and a bibliography of additional resources.  This book was updated in 2002.

"Protecting Your Library's Electronic Resources" Written in 2003, this publication focuses on designing disaster response plans for digital materials, recovering damaged data, hardware and software (both the objects and the data) as well as the current state of long-term retention plans for digital materials.  This publication includes checklists to help you design your plan, as well as lists of organizations to help you recover data or plan for long-term retention of data.  The lists will be updated here.  The bibliography will be updated on this website as well.

"The Library Security and Safety Guide to Prevention, Planning, and Response". Written in 2006 and 2007, this book teaches how to protect your collections, buildings and staff from loss, damage and injury.  It was published and released by ALA in June 2008.
