One - Day Workshop


Description:

Do you feel invaded by genealogists and uncertain about how to provide good reference service? This one-day workshop is an introduction for librarians and archivists to learn how to assist their genealogy patrons in a more informed manner. You will learn the basics of the Census and Soundex, and how to locate and interpret vital records. At the end of the day, you’ll learn about the most common genealogy web sites and how to use them effectively. 

Goals:

How to locate the information your patron seeks
How to read the documents once you find them

Where to refer the patron for the next piece of information.
