 Understanding the literature and fiction of many cultures


Description:

This workshop is designed for librarians, library assistants and library science students who have responsibility collecting and recommending fiction and literature of various cultures including: African-American, Native-American Latin American, Hispanic, Asian and Middle Eastern countries. Literature and fiction approached from collection development and readers’ advisory perspectives 

Goals:

Resources for multicultural literature and fiction – familiarity with reference tools, print reference sources
Explore internet databases and resources for reviews and advisory sources
Understand the differences and similarities of various cultures’ literature and story telling them
Apply evaluation techniques to book reviews and descriptions
 

Audience: 

Audience: Any library staff providing reference assistance.
