Are you spending your summer in
preparation for the next school year? Are you looking for books about
Ohio history and historical figures to entice young adults, children and
their parents to read? Have the Ohio Bicentennial and Fourth Grade
proficiency exams placed new demands on your collection of print and
electronic resources to help the teachers in your school district?
Help is at hand. Did you know
that: Ohio is the birthplace of seven presidents; that early settlers
came here in the 1780’s despite the danger posed by Indians, the British
and the French, to find a better life for themselves; that the Ohio
River was one of the greatest highways moving people from East to West
to settle the Mississippi River basin and the Plains States?
Learn about Ohio’s history and famous faces using all the rich and
varied resources at our fingertips. Our libraries are full of histories,
biographies, fiction and adventure stories, photographs and Internet web
sites. To provide excellent reference service, all we need are the key
access points to mine this wealth of information.
This workshop is designed to
help Children and Young Adult librarians and teachers provide reference
services and reading selections in Ohio History and Culture.
