  • What is the population of your congressional district?
  • Find the most current economic indicators using the Census site. How have housing starts changed over the past year?
  • Using the historical census, look at the changes in industry in your county.  How does agriculture or farming in 1900 compare with the same industry today?  How about manufacturing?  How does that compare?
  • find charts that show historical census housing data?  What part of the county has seen the most growth (look at census tract information)
  • Find charts that show historical census data?  How has the population changed since 1900? Since 1850?
  • How many school age children live in your census tract?
  • What are the demographics of your school district according to the Census 2000? the 2010 census (use Fact Finder or American Community Survey)
  • Using the US Gazetteer, find a map of the ‘Adena’ park district.
  • Can you find a map for the rivers in your state?
  • Locate a map that shows watersheds for the state.
  • Find statistics on the private home construction industry. [hint use NAICS codes]  How many companies are their in your county, in the state, in the country?
  • What is the Gross Domestic Product? And where can I find the numbers that the news is always reporting?
  • How many people over 18 live in your census block?  How many have an educational level above High School?
  • How many people live in your county in 2010 as compared with 1990?
  • Use Ohio County Data (County Profiles)  at Ohio Office of Research.
  • How has the economy of your county changed over the past 30 years? Can you make projections for 2020?  What does the county profile tell you about your county?
