Local History Resources for Librarians and Archivists

Description:

Are Genealogist asking for more history and historical information?  Do patrons want to know how to find public records and historical maps of your county?  This workshop is designed to help librarians and archivists assist their genealogy and history patrons in a more informed manner.   You will learn about print & on-line resources for Ohio and Early US History, Maps and their uses, Military History and Records, and Land Records. Learn how to use city directories and county resources that help you find people.  At the end of the day, you’ll learn about the most common history and military web sites and how to use them effectively.

Goals:

  • Enhance your genealogy materials with history
  • Integration of genealogy with history resources, both primary and secondary
  • Where the historical resources are located in Ohio or on the Internet.

Audience:

Part time Genealogy / Local History staff, reference librarians and others with and interest in genealogy and local history.
